Ivermectin Reported to be “Approved by the FDA for Treatment of COVID-19” is FALSE.
The sad but not unexpected truth is that the FDA, CDC, and the NIH have not changed their spots. Although there are more than 50 years of convincing evidence that Ivermectin is safe and effective in treating multiple viruses, including RNA viruses, and now mounting new evidence that Ivermectin may prevent and stop cancer (watch the accompanying video and see the power-of-nature link below), the NIH Panel that was selected to review the data still “recommends against the use of Ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19.”
The NIH Select Panel did not find any harm from Ivermectin, but they were not convinced by the studies they reviewed, that Ivermectin was more beneficial than other newer drugs recently approved by the FDA for the treatment of COVID-19.
This seems like a selective preference, which could be biased by pressure from the NIH, which controls billions of research dollars that select which drugs get funding and which do not. Ivermectin is a 50+ year old drug and the exclusive patent rights ended some 30 years ago, hence, it is sent to the back of the bus and ignored.
Personally, I prefer natural, non-drug therapies, however, I sympathize with Ivermectin because it has been censored unjustly in response to COVID.
Doctors Suing FDA over Right to Prescribe Ivermectin for to Patients
A case was brought by three doctors who allege that the FDA unlawfully interfered with their practice of medicine and got them fired from their jobs by making repeated statements that implied that it was improper for them to prescribe Ivermectin for COVID. A federal judge dismissed the case in 2022, prompting an appeal.
In the appeal, the government is defending the FDA’s repeated exhortations to people not to take Ivermectin for COVID-19, including an August 21, 2021, post on Twitter, by the FDA that said: “You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y’all. Stop it.”
The post was linked to an FDA page that says, “The FDA has not authorized or approved Ivermectin for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19 in people or animals. Ivermectin has not been shown to be safe or effective for these indications.”
This message sounds like the FDA is using social media to mislead the public and to scold, ridicule, and pressure these and all other doctors from prescribing Ivermectin. However, the truth is that the FDA does not have the authority or the legal right to interfere with the doctor-patient relationship and doctors have the right to prescribe any approved drug for any medical condition.
“The fundamental issue in this case is straightforward. After the FDA approves the human drug for sale, does it then have the authority to interfere with how that drug is used within the doctor-patient relationship? The answer is no,” Jared Kelson, representing the doctors, told the appeals court.
This issue in this case is about respecting the doctor-patient relationship as it exists in law and ethics. This is not really about the science behind the use of Ivermectin, it’s about the limits of the authority, reach and influence of the FDA after it has approved a drug for use.
During oral arguments on August 8, 2023, in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit,” Ashley Cheung Honold, a Department of Justice lawyer representing the FDA, said the “FDA explicitly recognizes that doctors do have the authority to prescribe Ivermectin to treat COVID.”
In spite of this understanding that doctors do have the right to prescribe Ivermectin for COVID-19, the FDA, CDC and the NIH appear determined to continue to use their power, money, and influence to push their own agenda, direction, and drugs and to silence dissenting concerns or opinions.
Our First Amendment rights, as well as our individual and national sovereignty, are at stake. Most importantly, our individual health and the health of humanity is at stake.
